To commemorate the 45th anniversary of its founding, the FPCJ held a webinar based on the theme “Democracy at a crossroads– Challenges posed to democratic values by populism and systemic rivalry” on March 16, 2021.

A keynote speech was given by Professor Yuichi Hosoya of Keio University followed by a panel discussion. The FPCJ invited  Ms. Aiko Doden, Senior Director, NHK World TV, Mr. Simon Denyer, Tokyo Bureau Chief, The Washington Post, Ms. Mary Dejevsky, Commentator, The Independent, and Mr. Ravi  Velloor, Associate Editor, The Straits Times, Singapore as panelists. They discussed the role of media and government in the issues being faced by democracy and from a global perspective.



More than 200 people from universities, local governments, media, businesses, and other organizations around the world signed up for the webinar.

 

The FPCJ will continue to make a special effort to disseminate information overseas as we reach the Semicentennial Anniversary
