UTokyo and CIAS to launch, co-host Tokyo Forum 2019

The University of Tokyo (UTokyo) and Chey Institute for Advanced Studies (CIAS) of South Korea will co-host Tokyo Forum 2019 at the University of Tokyo from Dec. 6-8. This new global forum brings together leaders from academia, government, business and nonprofit organizations from around the world, aiming to promote discussion and exchange of ideas on contemporary global challenges. Tokyo Forum will be held annually under the overall theme “Shaping the Future.” The forum will be open to media and the public.

Tokyo Forum 2019 has invited around 130 speakers from overseas. The first day of the forum features keynote speeches and dialogues by a number of global leaders including Jack Ma (Ma Yun), founder of Alibaba Group, Masayoshi Son, CEO of SoftBank, Helen Clark, former prime minister of New Zealand and former UNDP administrator, Enrico Letta, former prime minister of Italy, and many others. The second day features six parallel sessions organized by leading professors of UTokyo and Princeton University in the U.S., exploring key global topics such as the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, common security, lifelong well-being, the digital revolution, and inequality and building an inclusive future.
