Tokyo Metropolitan Government Announces its “Tokyo Sustainability Action” Aimed at Realizing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals


The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) is proud to announce the unveiling of “Tokyo Sustainability Action (English)”, a summary of our efforts to realize the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) based on the ”Future Tokyo: Tokyo’s Long-Term Strategy” released in March of 2021.

Published materials can be viewed on TMG’s website (in English).

These materials have been prepared as a Voluntary Local Review (VLR), an international initiative in which local governments voluntarily review their measures and progress toward the achievement of SDGs, and submit a public report on the results of the review to the United Nations.

Related to this, we are pleased to inform you that Tokyo Governor Koike Yuriko will deliver a video message today at the fourth Local and Regional Governments Forum on the 2030 Agenda, a special event held online, as part of the United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development under the auspices of the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

Tuesday, July 13, 2021, staring at 9:00 pm Japan Standard Time (8:00 am US EST)
*The governor’s video message is scheduled to be broadcast around 10:15 pm Japan Standard Time

The fourth Local and Regional Governments Forum is scheduled to be broadcast live on the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) YouTube channel where you can watch the video message from Governor Koike. UCLG is the world’s largest coalition of cities and local governments from around the world.
