JFTC publishes “Foreign Trade 2019” 


- Japan’s Total Trade hits record high, amid rising concerns for protectionism. 

High prices of crude oil put trade balance back into deficit after 2 years of surpluses. -

 


Japan Foreign Trade Council, Inc., JFTC (Chairman: Kuniharu Nakamura, Chairman- Sumitomo Corporation) is pleased to announce the new release of “Foreign Trade 2019”, a data book with full coverage of Japan’s foreign trade statistics for the year 2018.

 

Using latest trade statistics released in January by the Ministry of Finance, “Foreign Trade 2019” features Japan’s foreign trade, by area and by commodity. It is abundant with graphs and charts, and concise comments so readers can quickly grasp the basic trend of Japan’s trade. 


It also comes with a Data section, full of trade related statistics, including exchange rates, commodity prices, Japan’s EPA negotiation status, as well as JFTC’s original outlook for Japan’s Trade Balance and Current Account for FY2019. 

 

It is handy and convenient for searching and viewing a series of data sets at a glance.

 

Some of the changes we made this year include;

・Bigger Size for easier reading (A5 to A4)

・Improved graphs/charts

・“Contribution ratio” shown for major trade partners and commodities

・Other additions include;  FTA coverage ratios for major countries, Foreign Direct Investment in Japan (by region and by industry), and 2019 Calendar of Major Political/Economic Events (including many trade related events).
