Event announcement: Meeting and Presentation with top journalist Alexis Papahelas,
Politico Magazine’s 2016 Greek pick of the EU’s most influential
“The 28 people from 28 countries who are shaping, shaking and stirring Europe”

The recent Austrian and German election results came as a surprise to many. Complex issues such as geopolitics, immigration and technology will increasingly dictate future developments worldwide. Mainstream analyses fall short in making sense of societal turmoil and small bubbles are making pockets of society – across the whole spectrum – more and more isolated from each other. Where will this lead? How can Japan learn from other countries’ experiences?

Alexis Papahelas is an investigative journalist, political commentator and editor-in-chief of Greece’s leading morning newspaper, the Kathimerini. He was picked by Politico Magazine as one of the 28 most influential Europeans in 2016, and was an invited guest of the 2017 Bilderberg Club meeting. He is the secretary general of the Greek Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) and He has interviewed key international political figures during his career, such as George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Emmanuel Macron and Tayyip Erdogan. He has contributed columns to The New York Times, as well as The Guardian. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Bard College in History and Economics and a Master’s Degree in International Affairs and Journalism from Columbia University.
Mr Papahelas is visiting Japan at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Do not miss this opportunity to learn straight from the current affairs forefront!
