Three online side-event seminars of G7 Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting in Miyazaki



G7 Agriculture Ministers' Meeting in Miyazaki will be held from Saturday April 22 to Sunday 23, 2023.

 

Amid growing international concern about food security, agriculture ministers in charge of domestic agricultural production and food supply are tasked with making food systems resilient and sustainable including reducing the environmental impact of agricultural production. This G7 Agriculture Ministers' Meeting is a good opportunity to send a strong message to that end.

 

On this occasion, we will hold seminars to disseminate various initiatives by G7 countries, international organizations, private companies, and the research sector under three themes. We look forward to your participation worldwide.

4. Contents of the seminars

■ Session 1: 10:30am to 11:50am (JST)

“Toward Net zero and Circular economy with Sustainable Wood Use”

 

Recognizing the importance of forests and the potential wood use in realizing a decarbonized society, we will disseminate the information on the efforts of each sector to expand actions for sustainable forest management and wood use

 

■ Session 2: 1:30pm to 3:00pm (JST)

“For Building Resilient and Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems

~ Contribution by Food Sectors in the Food Supply Chain ~”

 

For building resilient and sustainable agriculture and food systems, we will share our efforts to collaborate with agricultural production sites in the food industry, which connects the food supply chain from production to consumption.

 

■ Session 3: 4:00pm to 5:20pm (JST)

“Tackling the Climate Change with Innovations and Actions

~ Change the world with Strategies such as MIDORI ~ “

 

We will share information on policy efforts, initiatives, and technologies of each country aimed at achieving both productivity growth and sustainability in the agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and food sectors, which includes Japan’s strategy “MIDORI”.

 

Also, we will discuss approaches taken by G7 countries to promote environmentally friendly

agriculture including reduction of greenhouse gas emission and carbon storage, as well as

efforts to promote behavioral change among various stakeholders.
