Comfort women statue to be set back up A statue symbolizing comfort women is returned to the civic group on Dec. 30, 2016, who were blocked from installing it in front of the Japanese Consulate in the southeastern port city of Busan. A local ward office had confiscated the statue from the group who tried to install it on Dec. 28. After fierce public criticism, the ward office said it will allow the installation of the statue. Various similar statues are being set up across the country to remember Korean women who suffered sexual enslavement by Japanese soldiers during World War II. (Yonhap)
