People on vacation fish as the Japan Atomic Energy Agency's Monju nuclear power plant, a sodium-cooled fast reactor, is pictured in the background in Tsuruga, Fukui prefecture, July 2, 2011. Fukui region, host to 14 reactors that dot the coast of the Wakasa Bay -- nicknamed the "Atomic Arcade" or "Genpatsu Ginza (nuclear power plant Ginza), resembles the Ginza shopping district, because it has more reactors than any other region in Japan. Japan has no easy options to replace nuclear power, which before the crisis supplied about 30 percent of its electricity, one reason the government is rushing to persuade communities to restart halted reactors to meet summer demand.
