Report: Assistance for Wall Street Journal Magazine, U.S. (Sep. 29-Oct. 7, 2011)

post date : 2013.08.20

Mr. Tom Downey, a New York-based freelance journalist, came to Japan to write articles for the Wall Street Journal Magazine about “consumer culture in Japan.”

His main focus was to analyze why Japan's consumer culture, especially in the field of fashion and food, has blossomed despite the country's prolonged recession. He interviewed editors-in-chief of men's fashion magazines, a buyer of an apparel company, and a think-tank researcher.

Under an FPCJ Journalist Invitation Program, Mr. Downey came to Japan in March 2009, and covered "Japanese homicide detectives."
