Report (Press Briefing): Establishment of All Nippon Entertainment Works Co., Ltd. (August 26, 2011)

The Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ) announced that it would make a 6 billion yen ($80 million) investment in a new company that would engage in planning and development activities to introduce copyrighted works of Japanese companies and individuals to international audiences. The aim of the new company is to remake attractive Japanese contents into films for the global market including Hollywood by working together with producers in the U.S., and to roll them out to TV programs, games and books (including novels and manga) to meet the needs of the global market. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) welcomes the establishment of the new company and expects that its activities will contribute to a deeper and wider appreciation of Japanese culture and to the growth of the Japanese contents industry.

 

Mr. Hideaki Ibuki, Director, Media and Content Industry Division, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Mr. Shinichi Takahashi, Managing Director, Innovation Network Corporation of Japan, held a press briefing at FPCJ from 5 p.m. on August 26. Foreign press members and observers (representatives of foreign embassies in Tokyo) attended.
