Decarbonization and the SDGs—Changing Corporate Environmental Awareness (Dr. Norichika Kanie, Professor, Keio University Graduate School of Media and Governance)

post date : 2021.10.21

To work towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, initiatives have been carried out by the Japanese government, local governments, and businesses. With growing consumer awareness, in 2017 the Keidanren included “bringing about a sustainable society” in its Charter of Corporate Behavior and businesses have been implementing more SDGs initiatives along with a growing trend in ESG investing. Has the COVID-19 pandemic affected the attitudes and actions of Japanese companies towards the SDGs?

The FPCJ has invited Dr. Norichika Kanie, a professor at the Keio University Graduate School of Media and Governance and a leading SDGs researcher, to discuss the current state of company initiatives for the SDGs and carbon neutrality in 2050, and what challenges there are.
