Last November, the Government of Japan submitted the proposed plan for the New Scientific Whale Research Program in the Antarctic Ocean (NEWREP-A) to the Scientific Committee of the IWC (International Whaling Commission).
The IWC Scientific Committee Expert Panel Workshop was held in February to review the plan, and the report of this Panel and Japan’s comments thereon will be made public on April 13. On this occasion, the FPCJ has organized a press briefing, inviting Mr. Joji Morishita, Japan’s Commissioner to the IWC.
