Press Briefing “Japan’s Crisis Management System: Current State and Problems

 

Briefer: Mr. Kuni Miyake, The Foreign Policy Institute President

 

 

The murder of Japanese hostages by the extremist group “ISIS”/“ISIL” has caused heightened interest in Japan’s crisis management system. 

 

The FPCJ has invited Canon Institute of Global Studies (CIGS) Research Director and Foreign Policy Institute President Kuni Miyake to discuss the current state of and problems with Japan’s crisis management system, considering the growing destabilization of the international situation.

 

When at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Miyake served as Director of the Japan-U.S. Security Treaty Division, Minister of the Embassy of Japan in China, Minister of the Embassy of Japan in Iraq, and Deputy Director-General of the Middle-eastern and African Affairs Bureau. He also served as Executive Assistant to the spouse of the Prime Minister in the 1st Shinzo Abe administration.
