Press Briefing: What the Khmer Rouge Trials Have So Far Achieved
-Report from a Resigning International Judge

Mr. Motoo Noguchi
Judge of the Supreme Court Chamber of Khmer Rouge Trials

In February this year, the Supreme Court Chamber of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) sentenced the Khmer Rouge’s chief jailer Mr. Kaing Guek Eav (better known as Duch) to a life in jail, describing his crimes as “undoubtedly among the worst in recorded human history.” The decision is expected by the international community to become a crucial step toward the conclusion of the entire peace process in Cambodia.

FPCJ has invited Mr. Motoo Noguchi, who has served as an International Supreme Court Chamber Judge for the past six years and contributed to the decision, to share his views just before his resignation on July 15.
