monju/Fukui prefecture boasts a natural environment and quality of life with an all-time high level of healthy life expectancy, good living environment and high rate of women's participation in society, as well as a high level of academic and physical ability in its children. This is the host prefecture of "2010 Japan APEC Energy Ministerial Meeting", this June. The energy ministers from 21 countries and regions, mainly from Asia Pacific, will be gathering to discuss global warming issues and energy conservation measures. You will cover the prefectural approach to centralization of energy R&D/human resources in Asia.

toyama-all/The Environmental Model City Plan of Action was formulated in Toyama City which had proposed to be a citizen- and environmentally-friendly “Compact City”. The city is now transforming itself to a “low carbon society”.
In order to achieve that goal, the city focuses on the revitalization of public transportation, greater use of eco-friendly vehicles and bicycles, and introducing and spreading new energy.The participating journalists will have an opportunity to learn how the Plan of Action has been implemented, what kind of result has been emerging, and what are the prospects and challenges in the future.

003/FPCJ invited Professor Yorizumi Watanabe of Keio University, an expert on FTA/EPA issues with rich hands-on experience in MOFA and international bodies, to share his views on Japan’s FTA/EPA policy. Forty two people including 15 journalists from nine countries/regions, 21 embassy representatives, and six FPCJ supporting members attended.
