Fellowship Program: Honolulu Star Advertiser Journalist Kevin Knodell (US)
As part of the 2024–2025 FPCJ Fellowship Program, Mr. Kevin Knodell, a reporter for the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, visited Japan from August 25 to 31.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser is the largest daily newspaper in Hawaii. It was established in 2010 through a merger of the Honolulu Star Bulletin, with 128 years of history, and the Honolulu Advertiser, with 154 years of history.
While in Japan, Mr. Knodell covered the topics of security and diplomacy, as well as Japanese people’s interest in Hawaii. He spoke with government officials, members of research institutes, and experts, and also conducted street interviews.
After the program, Mr. Knodell commented that although it was his first visit to Japan, he was very satisfied to have spoken with his desired interviewees and believed he could write articles valuable to the people of Hawaii.
