post date : 2013.08.21
FPCJ invited Prof. Motoshige Itoh of the Graduate School of Economics, University of Tokyo, to talk about Abenomics and the outlook for the Japanese economy. He is a member of Prime Minister Abe’s Council on Economics and Fiscal Policy.
Thanks to the weakening yen and the favorable market response, Abenomics is receiving increased international attention. Showing this, the briefing was attended by a total of 51 people, including journalists from China, France, Germany, the Netherlands, the ROK, Switzerland, and the U.S., and also embassy representatives.
The Q&A session dealt with such issues as what the Bank of Japan can do for Japan to get out of the deflation, and the capability of Abenomics to stop the trend of industrial hollowing out.
