post date : 2013.08.21
An international forum “The World Civilization Forum 2012” will be held in Tokyo on February 6-7, with Nobel Economics Prize winner Prof. Amartya Sen of Harvard University as the General Chairperson. World intellectuals will gather to discuss under the general theme of “In Pursuit of Inter-Generational Justice,” with “The lessons from the earthquake disaster to the 21st century civilization” as one of the sub-themes.
Just prior to the forum, FPCJ invited Mr. Seiichi Kondo, Commissioner for Cultural Affairs, to talk about the objective and program of the forum, often dubbed the “Davos Meeting in the cultural world.” Mr. Kondo is a former Director-General of the Public Diplomacy Department of MOFA, Japanese Ambassador to UNESCO and to Denmark, who has been spearheading “cultural diplomacy” as the new leader of Japan’s cultural administration.
Two Briefings, one in English and one in Japanese, were held separately on the same day. A total of 20 people including 6 foreign press reporters attended.
