Video Report: Outlook for Japanese Diplomacy in 2025: Stabilizing the Asia Pacific Region 80 Years After World War II(Dr. Taizo Miyagi, Professor, Faculty of Law, Chuo University)
post date : 2025.01.10
2025 is an important milestone, marking 80 years since the end of World War II. The diplomacy and security environment surrounding Japan has changed dramatically in recent years and is becoming more complex and severe, with threatening actions by China in the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea, nuclear weapon and missile development by North Korea, and concerns over Japan-South Korea security cooperation due to the turmoil in South Korea. What role should Japan play for the sake of stability both domestically and in the region, while facing the harsh realities of the international community?
The FPCJ has invited Dr. Taizo Miyagi, an expert in international political history and Japanese diplomacy and a professor at the Chuo University Faculty of Law, to discuss the outlook for Japanese diplomacy in 2025 and stabilizing the Asia Pacific region 80 years after World War II. He will discuss the history of Japanese diplomacy since the war, and what role Japan should play and what path it should take for the sake of international peace and stability.
The briefing was attended by journalists from China, France, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Russia, Singapore, Swiss and USA.
