Video Report:Two Years After the Beginning of Russia’s Full-scale Invasion of Ukraine, How Will Japan Support Ukraine?(Dr. Michito Tsuruoka, Associate Professor, Faculty of Policy Management, Keio University)
post date : 2024.03.05
As of this month, two full years have passed since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. With some suggesting that interest in the situation in Ukraine is now declining and fatigue for providing support growing, Japan led the discussion on support for Ukraine as the holder of the G7 presidency in 2023. On February 19, the Japan-Ukraine Conference for Promotion of Economic Growth and Reconstruction was held in Tokyo, and in addition to reasserting that Japan would continue long-term support for the sake of Ukraine’s economic stability, public-private partnerships to assist in reconstruction were announced. Considering the results of this conference, nations around the world are interested in what support Japan will provide Ukraine in the future.
The FPCJ has invited Dr. Michito Tsuruoka, an associate professor at Keio University who is an expert on contemporary European politics and international security, to discuss Japanese support for Ukraine, the impact of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on Japan and the international community, and the significance behind Japan’s support for Ukraine.
The briefing was attended by journalists from Brazil, France and Russia.
