Video Report: Future Japan-US Relations In Light of the Upcoming Presidential Election (Dr. Yasushi Watanabe, Professor, Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, Keio University)

post date : 2024.02.15

The Iowa caucuses of the Republican Party held on January 15 kicked off the primary process to elect presidential election nominees for both the Republican and Democratic Parties. As it stands, this election is expected to be a repeat of the 2020 election, with current incumbent President Joe Biden seeking reelection against former President Donald Trump. The United States is the world's most powerful democracy in terms of military and economic power, and the choice of its leader has attracted great interest from around the world.

The FPCJ has invited Dr. Yasushi Watanabe, a professor at the Keio University Faculty of Environment and Information Studies and an expert in American studies, to discuss what impact the US presidential election will have on Japan, and the future of Japan-US relations.
