Video report: Fukushima Governor Discusses Reconstruction, Ten Years After the Nuclear Accident (Mr. Masao Uchibori, Governor of Fukushima Prefecture)

post date : 2021.02.17

It has been almost ten years since the Great East Japan earthquake and the TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident. As Fukushima enters the “Second Term Reconstruction and Revitalization Period,” Fukushima’s governor Mr. Masao Uchibori has declared this year an opportunity to accelerate the prefecture’s reconstruction and to stimulate the local economy. With the COVID-19 pandemic leading to increased interest in moving outside big cities and the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics bringing Fukushima attention from around the world, the governor is working to show how Fukushima has been steadily moving forward with reconstruction and all the attractions it has to offer.

The FPCJ invited Governor Uchibori to discuss his thoughts on the present and future of Fukushima, ten years after the nuclear accident.

The briefing had a total of 53 participants including journalists from Belgium, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, the UK and the US.
