I would like to offer my condolences to the families of all those who passed away in the series of earthquakes originating below Kumamoto Prefecture, as well as offering my sympathies to everyone affected by this disaster.

With aftershocks continuing throughout Kyushu even now, I pray for everyone’s safety and for a rapid recovery. The Foreign Press Center Japan will continue providing whatever aid is possible for disseminating information overseas.
