The Shizuoka Prefectural Office is going to carry out the release of ‘Shizuoka Culture’, ’Shizuoka Craftsmanship’ and ‘Shizuoka Cuisine’ in Paris, in accordance with “Japonismes 2018”, commemorates the 160 years of friendship between Japan and France. The theme of the project is “Mt. Fuji and Tokaido (an old route connecting Edo to Kyoto)”. A variety of attractions will be presented.

The SPAC’s “Mahabharata” depicts the most beautiful and spectacular love story among the ancient Indian epics, using spectacular visual effects arranged like a scroll.
The July 2014 performance at Festival d’Avignon received standing ovations from a full-house audience every day. Since then, the performance has evolved through its various stages around the world. Its latest version will appear at “Japonismes 2018”. A ring-shaped stage surrounding the audience, profound narrative and stage performance, and live music played by the actors, all come together to highlight the festive musical by Satoshi Miyagi and SPAC, as they build on the momentum of “Antigone” that marked the opening of Festival d’Avignon in 2017.
Shizuoka Attraction Release Project -Mt.Fuji x TOKAIDO- Japonismes2018 Associate Program
The special and unique space introducing the attraction of SHIZUOKA is shown at this site. Mt. Fuji and TOKAIDO are the typical sightseeing destinations in Shizuoka Prefecture. Many things related to Mt.Fuji and TOKAIDO will be displayed and images will be projected. For example, some artworks will be displayed, which have a relation to Shizuoka. The aromatic Shizuoka green tea, such as Sen-cha or Hoji-cha, will be served. Also, the stage costumes worn by SPAC actors will be displayed. The costume textiles are made in Shizuoka, named “Enshu-orimono”. And the costumes are designed by university students of Shizuoka University of Art and Culture. Enjoy Shizuoka !

“KISSAKO” is a phrase of Zen-Buddhism, which is based on the conversation among Buddhist monks. It means “let’s enjoy having green tea together”. The special performance “KISSAKO” is based on the Zen-Buddhism performed by the SPAC actors in “ Mahabharata”. They will show you a special performance featuring Shizuoka green tea. In addition, green tea will be served by the licensed Japanese-tea instructors at the site.

The Shizuoka Prefectural Office is going to introduce the attractions of Shizuoka products, such as farm products like green tea or wasabi (Japanese horseradish). Japanese sake and Enshu-orimono will also be introduced.
It could be a good opportunity to progress the sales promotion of Shizuoka products. In the “Washoku” sampling party, professional chefs from Japan use the excellent Shizuoka products and prepare “Washoku” dishes.
In addition, another room will be provided for business meetings between exhibitors, chefs and visitors.Through this meeting, the Shizuoka Prefectural Office hopes that the promotion of Shizuoka products will be a great success and many products will be exported continuously. Production of “Scent of Shizuoka
The perfumer Miya Shinma, working and living in France, has produced a new perfume “Scent of Shizuoka”. She was born in Shimada city and has been inspired by the nature of her hometown of Shizuoka.
This time, she has produced perfume based on the scent of green tea in Shizuoka. “Scent of Shizuoka” will be available at the site of SHIZUOKA Attraction Release Project, La Villette. Please come and try it.
