Paralympics Special Program “The Technology of SMEs Supporting Para Athletes”
post date : 2021.08.25
The Tokyo 2020 Paralympics have begun. Some of the advanced technology supporting the Paralympians as they compete was developed by the SMEs forming the backbone of Japan’s economy. Initiatives by Japanese SMEs dealing with the issue of Japan becoming a super-aged society and advanced technology developed by them are expected to help not only Paralympians but also people in aging societies around the world in the fields of medical care and welfare.
As a Paralympics special program, this online briefing will focus on two SMEs based in Saitama. Natori Manufacturing Co., Ltd. produced adapters, an essential part, for prosthetic legs being used for long jump. RDS Co., Ltd. collaborated with an F1 racing team to design a racing wheelchair combining both form and function.
The briefing will be a live stream, with the two CEOs speaking from their companies while showing their products. The duration of this remote visit to these companies will be about 45 minutes each, or 90 minutes in total, with Natori first and RDS second.
This briefing demonstrates a new possibility for remote reporting. We look forward to your participation.
■Please note that you cannot physically attend this briefing, as it will be a Zoom webinar.
■FPCJ supporting members and embassy representatives may also participate in the briefing as observers (admission free).
