Forecasting Japanese Politics in 2021 (Dr. Harukata Takenaka, Professor, National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies)
post date : 2020.12.21
Key challenges for the Suga administration in 2021 include how to prevent the spread of COVID-19 while still carrying out economic activity, how to bring about a digital and green society, and how to safely hold the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. Other topics of interest include the outcome of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly election in July and its effects on domestic politics, and the House of Representatives general election in October at the latest.
The FPCJ has invited Dr. Harukata Takenaka, professor at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, to speak about the outlook for Japanese domestic politics in 2021, which will have a historic number of difficult issues to deal with.
