Present and Future of Japan-China Relations
Briefer: Dr. Akio Takahara, Professor, University of Tokyo Faculty of Law and Graduate Schools for Law and Politics
With continuing worsened relations between Japan and China, delegates from the Japan-China Friendship Parliamentarians' Union visited China at the beginning of May, and Keidanren’s current and incoming chairman both visited China at the end of May. With the New Japan-China Friendship Committee for the 21st Century, composed of intellectuals from China and Japan, meeting for the first time in two and a half years in Kyushu, former State Council member Mr. Tang Jiaxuan visited Japan. Together with the possibility of a meeting between the leaders of Japan and China at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting to be held near Beijing in November this year, there is increased interest in a possible improvement of relations between the two countries.
The FPCJ has invited Dr. Akio Takahara, a professor at the University of Tokyo Faculty of Law and Graduate Schools for Law and Politics and member of the New Japan-China Friendship Committee for the 21st Century, to speak about the future of Japan-China relations.
We look forward to your attendance.
