Tokyo Gubernatorial Election and Outlook of Domestic Politics

 

Briefer: Mr. Hiroshi Hoshi, Columnist and Senior Political Writer, Asahi Shimbun

 

The Tokyo gubernatorial election will be held on February 9. The candidates include Mr. Yoichi Masuzoe, former Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, and Mr. Morihiro Hosokawa, former Prime Minister. LDP’s Tokyo chapter and DPJ’s Tokyo chapter expressed their support for Mr. Masuzoe and Mr. Hosokawa respectively. Possible election issues include the zero nuclear power generation problem that might affect the Abe Administration, the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, and measures against an earthquake that might happen right under the Tokyo Metropolitan Area.

 

FPCJ has invited Mr. Hiroshi Hoshi, Columnist and Senior Political Writer, Asahi Shimbun, to talk about the election and its effect on the domestic politics. You are invited to come and hear him.
