Healthy Seniors Working in the Era of 100-Year Life Expectancy (Dr. Shinya Ouchi, Professor, Graduate School of Law, Kobe University)
post date : 2025.01.28
In recent years, with the labor force decreasing along with the rapidly declining birthrate and aging population, ensuring there is enough labor to maintain social and economic activity has become a major issue. According to the Japan Institute for Labour Policy and Training’s FY2023 estimates for labor force supply and demand, the labor force is expected to drop from 69.04 million people in 2022 to 60.02 million in 2040, and finding workers is an urgent issue. From April 2025, the Act on Stabilization of Employment of Elderly Persons will mandate ensuring the employment of workers up to 65 years old, and it is hoped that experienced seniors will be an immediate asset and help solve the labor shortage.
The FPCJ has invited Dr. Shinya Ouchi, a professor at the Kobe University Graduate School of Law and an expert in labor policy and labor law, to discuss how to have healthy seniors work better in the era of 100-year life expectancy.
Please note that you cannot physically attend this briefing, as it will be a Zoom webinar.
Embassy representatives and FPCJ supporting members may also participate in the briefing as observers (admission free).
