The House of Representatives Election—The Prospect of Political Reform (Dr. Izuru Makihara, Professor, Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, University of Tokyo)

Having been designated as the 102nd prime minister of Japan, on October 1 Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba held a press conference after forming his cabinet, at which he announced the House of Representatives would be dissolved on October 9, with official campaigning to begin on October 15 for a general election on October 27. All eyes are on the upcoming general election and its impact on the future of Japanese democracy.

 

Ahead of the election, the FPCJ has invited Dr. Izuru Makihara, a professor at the University of Tokyo Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology and an expert in politics and public administration, to discuss the House of Representatives election—The Prospect of Political Reform.


Please note that you cannot physically attend this briefing, as it will be a Zoom webinar.

 

FPCJ supporting members and embassy representatives may also participate in the briefing as observers (admission free).
