Notice (Press Briefing): Tourism Buoys up Japan! (July 20, 2011)

post date : 2013.08.19

Press Briefing:“Tourism Buoys up Japan!”

Mr. Hiroshi Mizohata, Commissioner of the Japan Tourism Agency

Japanese economy has steadily showing a recovery trend from the sharp drops after the Great East Japan Earthquake. The trend is most prominent in the manufacturing industry, but fairly good signs are also seen in the tourism industry, which suffered a major setback from the public's sense of self-restraint nationwide and the advices and warnings against travel to Japan issued by foreign governments after the nuclear power plant accident. With its many related businesses, the rise of the tourism industry is supposed to create jobs and invigorate local communities. That’s why the tourism business is called as the trump card for economically revitalizing the affected areas and the whole Japan, and also as an important pillar of Japan’s growth strategy.

FPCJ will invite Mr. Hiroshi Mizohata, Commissioner of the Japan Tourism Agency, who is working on the front lines with the slogan, “Buoying up local communities and Japan with tourism.”

Time & Date: July 20 (Wed), 15:00-16:30

Place: Foreign Press Center/Japan (6th floor, Nippon Press Center Bldg.)

Language: Japanese (with English interpretation)

FPCJ supporting members and embassy representatives may also attend the briefing as observers (admission free).
