EU Fellowship Program: Tagesspiegel Journalist Viktoria BRAEUNER
post date : 2025.04.25
As part of the 2024-2025 EU Fellowship Program, Ms. Viktoria Braeuner, a journalist with German newspaper Tagesspiegel, visited Japan from February 12 to 22.
Tagesspiegel is an important media outlet in Germany, with many of its readers known as opinion leaders.
While in Japan, Ms. Braeuner visited Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki, covering topics including Japanese defense, the Japan-China relationship, and the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. She interviewed officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense, as well as experts and members of NGOs.
After the program, Ms. Braeuner commented that the schedule was extremely well balanced and she was very satisfied with the reporting she was able to do. She also mentioned that the meeting suggested by the FPCJ, accompanied by an interpreter, with high school student peace ambassadors whose grandparents were atomic bomb survivors, was a valuable opportunity that she would not have encountered on her own.
