EU Fellowship Program: POLITICO Europe Journalist Stuart Lau
post date : 2024.11.13
As part of the 2024-2025 EU Journalist Fellowship Program, Mr. Stuart Lau, the NATO and EU-China Correspondent for POLITICO Europe, visited Japan from July 21 to 31. POLITICO Europe is a European edition of the US political news media outlet POLITICO, covering politics, public policy, finance, and domestic and international news within Europe. According to the BCW Brussels and Savanta ComRes EU Media Poll 2023, it is the most influential news source for opinion leaders in the EU.
Mr. Lau covered Japanese diplomacy, security, and economic security, hearing from a Liberal Democratic Party Diet member, government officials, and experts. He also attended the joint press announcement of the Japan-Australia-India-U.S. foreign ministers’ meeting held in Tokyo, as well as visiting the Japan Air Self-Defense Force Chitose Air Base in Hokkaido and participating in a joint press opportunity held to coincide with joint drills between the JASDF and the German Air Force.
After the program finished, Mr. Lau commented that it was a very valuable opportunity to be able to interview Japanese government officials and an influential Diet member, who foreign journalists would normally have difficulty getting access to.
