post date : 2015.06.03
At the end of May,2015, the Government of Japan finalized their plan for the ideal energy mix for 2030. The proposal puts the ratio of nuclear power, which was 29% before the Great East Japan Earthquake, at 20 to 22%, and renewable energy more than doubled from 10% to 22 to 24%, with the rest consisting of power from fossil fuels.
Amidst growing interest in the future possibilities of renewable energy, the FPCJ invited Mr. Yasuyo Yamazaki, President and CEO of Kuni Umi Asset Management, a company specialized in investment in renewable energy projects throughout Japan, to discuss the current state and future of renewable energy use in Japan.
The briefing had a total of 31 participants, including fourteen journalists from China, South Korea, France, Germany, the UK and the US, and sixteen embassy representatives.
