Fellowship Program: ABC Journalist Jaime Santirso
As part of the 2025-2026 EU Fellowship Program, Mr. Jaime Santirso, Asia Correspondent for Spanish newspaper ABC, visited Japan from July 23 to August 2.
Since its founding in 1903, for over 120 years ABC has provided deep, accurate reporting on events in Spain and around the world, and is one of the most widely-read Spanish language news media worldwide.
While in Japan, Mr. Santirso covered topics including the 80th anniversary of the nuclear bombings, Ukrainian refugees in Japan and Japan’s immigration policy. He visited Nagasaki and Hiroshima as well as Tokyo. Mr. Santirso interviewed Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike, Chairperson of the Hiroshima Prefectural Hidankyo Kunihiko Sakuma, and various experts.
