Cities around the world face many of the same challenges when it comes to dealing with natural disasters, whether it be increasingly frequent floods brought on by climate change, or earthquakes and other such calamities. In order to protect the lives and livelihoods of Tokyo’s more than 14 million residents, and maintain the city’s functions and economic activities that support all of Japan, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) has taken a variety of countermeasures, backed by technology and past experiences.
TMG is pleased to announce that the English versions of a pamphlet and video, introducing Tokyo’s disaster preparedness measures, are now available online. TMG is working to realize a city with the durability and stability to ensure safety for the next 100 years.
