〇The Japanese government has launched “J-RISE Initiative”, a new policy initiative aimed at making Japan the most attractive country in the world for researchers.
〇“J-RISE Initiative” will create an attractive and world-class research environment for all types of researchers, including an independent and open research environment through various measures such as Japan's Universities for International Research Excellence program.
〇Whether you are early in your career or already established, Japan as a world leader in Science, Technology and Innovation provides the support and opportunity to help you succeed.
About the "J-RISE Initiative":
Academic research is becoming increasingly important, not only for the discovery and clarification of new phenomena, but also for the creation of original new technologies. As the impact of emerging technologies on society is expanding, international cooperation for science and technology is becoming increasingly significant.
we have recently launched the "J-RISE Initiative" to promote international talent mobility and circulation. This is to mobilize all the measures of the relevant ministries and agencies to strategically attract excellent overseas researchers, including Japanese living abroad, to research institutions such as universities and national research and development agencies.
The directions of the promotion are as follows.
①To realize an attractive and world-class research environment by making the most of related projects, such as supporting organizational reforms and promoting researcher independence through the Universities for International Research Excellence program.
②To urgently utilize the University Endowment Fund and consider additional measures in order to attract excellent researchers to universities and the national research and development agencies with world-class treatment.
③To implement various promotional activities, such as having recruitment tours abroad and appealing living environment and culture of Japan to attract excellent researchers from overseas.
The Cabinet Office, Government of Japan, will work with relevant ministries and agencies to strongly promote various initiatives, aiming to lead to a drastic improvement of Japan's research environment and to make Japan the most attractive country in the world for researchers.
