IAEA’s Safety Review Mission to Japan to Assess the Regulatory Aspects of the Plan to Discharge ALPS Treated Water into the Sea (Briefer: IAEA)

From January 16 to 20, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Task Force will review the safety of Japan’s plan to discharge treated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station into the sea, its fourth expert mission to the country over the past year. This mission is the second one to assess the regulatory aspects of the handling of the issue by Japan’s Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA).
The FPCJ has invited Mr. Gustavo Caruso, Director for the Department of Nuclear Safety and Security of the IAEA, who is also Chair of the Task Force, to give a briefing.
