“Lifting ban on the Internet election campaigning”

The revision of the Public Office Election law, the use of the Internet election campaigning to the general voters in addition to political parties or candidates will finally be lifted in Japan, starting with the Upper House election in this summer.
In the run-up to the Upper House election, FPCJ has invited Mr. Iwao Osaka, Lecturer, Faculty of Sociology, Rikkyo University, to talk about “Lifting ban on the Internet election campaigning.”
Mr. Osaka is also known as a co-author of “TV politics” (with Hiroshi Hoshi, Senior Political Writer of the Asahi Shimbun). He has studied for many years politics and the mass media in contemporary Japan such as communication strategies of political parties and politicians. Mr. Osaka has also been writing in academic journals and others about the social media use by politicians.
