Outlook for Japan-North Korea Relations
Briefer: Prof. Hajime Izumi, School of International Relations, University of Shizuoka
On March 16, it was revealed that the parents of Ms. Megumi Yokota, who was abducted by North Korea, met her daughter Kim Eun Gyong for the first time from March 10 to 14 in Mongolia. On March 19 and 20, Japan-North Korea Red Cross talks are planned in Shenyang, China, following the talks that took place on March 3. Government officials from both countries are scheduled to attend these talks.
At this time, in which events related to North Korea are taking place one after another, FPCJ has invited Professor Hajime Izumi of the School of International Relations, University of Shizuoka, to share his views about the outlook for Japan-North Korea relations. He is an expert in such areas as security in North Asia and politics and diplomacy in the Korean peninsula.
