Press Briefing: Toward the Upcoming Annual Meetings of the IMF and World Bank Group 2012
Briefer: Mr. Takehiko Nakao, Vice Minister of Finance for International Affairs
The Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group will be held in Tokyo in October 2012. (The first Tokyo Annual Meetings were in 1964.) The delegation including Ministers of Finance and Central Bank governors of the member countries will visit Japan and various other meetings and events will also be held during the period. This year Japan celebrates the 60th anniversary of its formally joining the IMF and the World Bank. World attention is focussed on this year’s Annual Meetings here in Japan, which has been strongly recovering from the Great East Japan Earthquake and aims at strengthen the bond between the countries and achieving a hopeful “new start” of the world economy that is now facing a crisis. FPCJ has invited Mr. Takehiko Nakao, Vice Minister of Finance for International Affairs, to share his views on the upcoming Tokyo Annual Meetings.
