80 Years After World War II—The Realities of War Shown by Analyzing US Military Footage (Mr. Yusuke Orita, Aerial Warfare History Researcher)
post date : 2025.07.03
This year marks 80 years since the end of World War II. With the number of people who directly experienced the war declining, how to communicate the experiences of the war and the significance of peace to later generations has become an important social issue.
Toyonokuni Usashijuku, a citizen’s group in Usa, Oita Prefecture, has acquired footage of air raids filmed by the US military during the Pacific War from the US National Archives and Records Administration, and has been analyzing that footage for over ten years.
The FPCJ has invited Mr. Yusuke Orita, a member of Toyonokuni Usashijuku and a leading expert in the history of aerial warfare, to discuss the realities of war shown by analyzing these videos, including videos filmed by gun cameras on US aircraft, as well as speaking on how to pass on the memories of war to later generations through videos such as these.
Please note that you cannot physically attend this briefing, as it will be a Zoom webinar.
Embassy representatives and FPCJ supporting members may also participate in the briefing as observers (admission free).
