Strengthening Japan’s Relations with Countries in the Global South through TICAD 9 (Mr. Kenju Murakami, Deputy Director-General/Deputy Assistant Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan)

The 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), to be held in Yokohama from August 20 to 22 this year, will be the greatest opportunity for Japan’s diplomacy with the countries of the Global South this year. 

 

The presence of countries in the Global South is increasing as the international situation changes. The main purpose of discussions at TICAD, which began in 1993, is changing as the economic growth and needs of African countries change. 




The FPCJ has invited Mr. Kenju Murakami, Deputy Director-General/Deputy Assistant Minister of the International Cooperation Bureau and the African Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. 

Under the theme of “Strengthening Japan's Relationships with Countries of the Global South through TICAD 9,” he will focus on Japan's new ODA policy in response to changes in the international environment and how Japan is trying to strengthen its ties with African countries, which are at the heart of the Global South, through the opportunities presented by TICAD 9, The presentation will focus on Japan's new ODA policy in response to the changes in the international environment. 

 

 

Please note that you cannot physically attend this briefing, as it will be a Zoom webinar.

Embassy representatives and FPCJ supporting members may also participate in the briefing as observers (admission free).
