Press Briefing: "Japanese Economy after 3.11: Update and Outlook"
Mr. Susumu Takahashi, Chairman, Japan Research Institute, Ltd.
A year after the Great East Japan Earthquake, efforts are now fully in gear in the affected areas toward rebuilding and reconstruction. The Japanese economy is recovering from the steep downturn shortly after the disaster. In the medium- and long-term, however, Japan is facing many economic challenges, such as the increasingly uncertain outlook of the world economy, the possible shift of industrial operations to overseas because of the unreliable electric supply and the strong yen, and the financial burden caused by the disaster. What is needed for the country to get its economy back on a growth track?
FPCJ has invited Mr. Susumu Takahashi, Chairman of the Japan Research Institute, Ltd., to summarize the economic impact of the disaster, and talk about the path from reconstruction to growth.
Time & Date: 15:00-16:15, Wednesday, March 14, 2012
Place: Foreign Press Center/Japan (6th floor, Nippon Press Center Bldg.)
Language: Japanese (with simultaneous interpretation into English)
Embassy representatives and FPCJ supporting members may also attend the briefing as observers (admission free).
