Outlook for US Presidential Election and Future of Japan-US Relations (Dr. Satoru Mori, Professor, Faculty of Law, Keio University)

post date : 2024.10.02

Little more than a month remains until the US presidential election in November. In national polls, Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican candidate former President Donald Trump show similar levels of popularity, and the race is expected to continue to be close. With the international order showing significant imbalance, as demonstrated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the whole world is watching to see who the American people will choose to lead the superpower.

The FPCJ has invited Dr. Satoru Mori a professor at Keio University Faculty of Law who is an expert in modern international politics and post-World War II US diplomacy, to discuss the outlook for the US presidential election and the future of Japan-US relations, including key points for this election, the impact on Japan-US relations, each candidate's policies on Japan, and the role Japan should play after the election.

Please note that you cannot physically attend this briefing, as it will be a Zoom webinar.

FPCJ supporting members and embassy representatives may also participate in the briefing as observers (admission free).
