Recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident in March and the European financial crisis; at this moment Japan faces many difficult issues both internal and international. In this situation, Mr. Yoshihiko Noda, new President of the Democratic Party of Japan, launched his new Cabinet in September. The DPJ is having a tough time running the Diet under the constraint of the different majority parties in the Upper and Lower Houses. How will Japan’s political situation develop in 2012?
