Report: 2026 FPCJ New Year’s Reception Held

On Thursday, January 15, 2026, Foreign Press Center Japan (FPCJ) held its annual New Year’s reception. Approximately 240 people participated, including members of the foreign media and embassy officials of various nations as well as attendees from the Japanese government, local governments, businesses, and universities.

In his opening remarks, FPCJ President Kazuo Kodama stated that the FPCJ’s mission to serve as a bridge between Japan and the world remained unchanged 50 years since its founding, and by supporting the reporting efforts of the foreign press the FPCJ would show a trustworthy representation of Japan to the world.

Minister of State for Economic and Fiscal Policy Minoru Kiuchi
Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan President Dan Sloan
Japan Newspaper Publishers & Editors Association Chairperson Shiro Nakamura

An award was also presented to Mr. Itaru Tsubota, who won the design competition for the 50th anniversary FPCJ logo.

Ample networking occurred at the event, with a pleasant atmosphere throughout as everyone celebrated the new year.

The FPCJ has designated the period up to the end of March 2027 as its 50th anniversary year, and would like to reiterate our gratitude to everyone that has supported us so far as we take our first steps towards the next 50 years.
