[CHANGE of SCHEDULE from Sept 16 to Sept 11] Post-Abe and Domestic Japanese Politics (Dr. Yu UCHIYAMA, Professor, University of Tokyo Graduate School of Arts and Sciences)

post date : 2020.09.02

Press Briefing "The COVID-19 Pandemic and Domestic Japanese Politics from Fall 2020 Onward" by Dr. Yu UCHIYAMA, was rescheduled to September 11, 14:00-15:30.

With Prime Minister Shinzo Abe having announced his resignation, the longest administration in Japan’s history is ending after seven years and eight months. In mid-September, after the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan’s leadership election and the election of the prime minister in the National Diet, there will be a new prime minister and a new cabinet.

The FPCJ has invited Dr. Yu Uchiyama, an expert in modern Japanese politics and a professor at the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, to hold a briefing just ahead of the LDP leadership election and look back at this unprecedented long administration, as well as discussing the policies of the candidates for LDP president, the outlook for the election, the challenges the new prime minister will face, and the future of domestic politics in Japan.
