Second Part: “North Korean Economy and Japan-North Korea Relations”

 

Briefer: Dr. Mitsuhiro Mimura, Director and Senior Research Fellow, The Economic Research Institute for Northeast Asia (ERINA)

 

Because of the start of the Kim Jong-un regime and the re-start of the intergovernmental talks between Japan and North Korea, increased attention is now focused on if and how the two countries’ relations will develop. 

 

In this connection, FPCJ will conduct press briefings on Japan-North Korea relations for two days in succession. For the second part, it has invited an expert on North Korea’s economy, Dr. Mitsuhiro Mimura, Director and Senior Research Fellow of the Economic Research Institute for Northeast Asia (ERINA) in Niigata Prefecture, to talk about North Korea and Japan-North Korea relations in economic terms. Don’t miss this opportunity!

【Briefer’s Profile】
Born in Osaka in 1969. Completed final period of Ph.D. research at the Graduate School of Law, Osaka University, and after receiving his Ph.D., joined the ERINA in 2001. Associate Senior Research Fellow, Research Division, ERINA in 2006. Director, Senior Research Fellow, Research Division, ERINA in 2011. Major publications include ‘DPRK Legislation as a Mirror Reflecting the DPRK Economy’ and ‘The Development of Mining and Manufacturing Industries in the DPRK,’ in "North Korea from the Economic Viewpoint," (in Japanese) compiled by Teruo Komaki and ERINA, Akashi Shoten, 2010.
