Japan’s Anime Culture

Anime has been attracting global attention. Why has it succeeded in gaining overseas acclaim? What is Japan’s anime culture in the first place and how has this unique culture developed? There seems to be no limit to the worldwide interest in this highly esteemed culture. FPC has invited Mr. Ryusuke Hikawa, foremost expert on anime analysis, to share his views with us including the latest information and future prospects.
*Mr. Ryusuke Hikawa:
While attending the Tokyo Institute of Technology, was already involved in anime contributing articles to various kinds of publications. Continued writing after graduating from the Institute, and while employed at an electronics manufacturer, developed and planned such telecommunication devices as mobile phones and also held a managerial post. Became a full-time writer in 2001. In addition to writing, he appears in a well-received TV series on anime (NHK BS-2), serves as content selection board member of the Association of Japanese Animations and also lectures in “Figuring out Anime Culture” (Mitsukoshi Culture Salon).
